Karen Long-Traynor, PhD

Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Long‐Traynor completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology and has worked as a clinician and educator for over 10 years. She currently leads the multidisciplinary psychosocial team at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey with a focus on integrating psychosocial supports and interventions to children and families faced with pediatric cancer. In her individual clinical work, Dr. Long‐Traynor offers evidence‐based psychotherapies, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to address the unique mental health concerns that are encountered by children and families throughout the pediatric cancer trajectory. In addition to therapeutic services, she offers neuropsychological testing to assess the cognitive impact of disease or treatment and is involved in research focused on caregiver support, mental health needs in survivorship, and the cognitive impact of chemotherapies.
